Berbere spice is a hot and aromatic traditional spice blend deeply rooted in Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine, where it plays a central role. Similar to curry in Indian cuisine, it imparts its characteristic flavor to a wide variety of dishes, especially stews (called "wot," such as doro wot or siga wot).
